Book1One’s softcover book binding - a professional and economical book binding method.
Book1One's softcover book binding, also called perfect binding, is a popular choice with book creators. With softcover book binding, adhesive is applied to the spine side of the pages, and the cover (comprised of 100# cover stock with film lamination) is then wrapped around the pages. After the adhesive is cured, the book is trimmed on three sides, leaving you with an attractive, functional soft cover book.

Preparing your soft cover book
Book1One works exclusively with PDF files. You can convert your documents to PDFs using your own PDF converter either online or as a print driver on your own computer. When converting to PDF, please maintain the “highest resolution” and make sure your fonts are embedded.
Pages:
Because of the binding process, we suggest allowing at least a 1/2” margin on the binding edge of each page of your book and at least a 1/4” margin at the top, bottom, and outside edges of each page. This is called mirrored margins and will place the page content in a more "centered" position.
If you have any critical content including backgrounds or images proceeding to the edge of your pages, you will want to include an ⅛'' bleed on all four edges of your pages so no critical content is cut during binding.
When setting up your PDF files, it is important to know that the first page of your PDF will be the first right-hand printed page of the book.
Cover:
We have developed interactive cover sizing diagrams to help you correctly size your cover. Click on the link below to download the diagram.
Once you have downloaded the guide, input the page trim sizes (height and width), page count and type of paper stock you wish to use. Page counts are based on 2-sided printing. If you are using 1-sided printing, you should double the page count amount.
Move your curser to any white space on the page and click. The diagram will then re-calculate and display the correct dimensions your cover needs to be. We suggest you print out the diagram and use it as a guide when laying out your cover.
Please note that if you provide your front cover design, spine and back cover design to us in separate PDF files; we will assemble, for a $55 fee, your three files to create your softcover.
If your book has less than a 5/16” spine, please do not place any text or graphics on it. If the spine is not wide enough, you run the risk of type wrapping to the front or back cover.
Covers for soft cover books are normally gloss UV coated. However if you're looking for increased scratch protection, you can select a gloss or matte film finish at an additional charge.
Available in any sizes:
Softcover book binding is available in any of these book sizes or in-between sizes in either portrait, landscape, or square orientation.
